What does it mean to wear your heart on your sleeve? To me, it means showing your compassion, and your care for the world and the people around you. It means taking the initiative and effort to help someone else, whether they're less fortunate than you or not. Whether they need something as simple as a smile, or something as essential as a home.
In this case, it's a new, clean, tee-shirt, for a child in need, starting in South Africa. I met these amazing kids when I volunteered in Muizenberg last August. I can honestly say that I've never felt such pure, genuine, unfaltering love before in my entire life. Which is why I wanted to make the effort to return the love they so easily gave to me. With HeartSleeves.
It is my dream come true to start this organization in collaboration with some amazing believers and backers, the amazing teacher at Christian David Moravian Primary School in Muizenberg, Sandi Jones, and the organizations that introduced me to volunteering abroad; IVHQ.org, and Dreams to Reality.
Words will never be able to express my gratitude and love for everyone who supports, helps, and even acknowledges the idea of being kind to one another, and helping whenever it is possible. I truly hope to expand this project worldwide, and to help as many children in need as we can.
I hope to expand this project to help other communities and kids in need around the world by raising money through these HeartSleeves, to purchase items from the U.S. that they need. After having a massive FAIL with shipping companies, I'll also be looking to work with travelers who would be willing to take an extra bag with them on their travels to help deliver the items!
My heart is on a size XXXL tee's sleeve for you,
